If you have pain in your knee, hip, or shoulder, come see us to find out what you can do to feel better

Fixing your pain may be simpler than you think

Yes, Dr. Wind is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon. But he doesn't start with surgery if he doesn't have to. He starts by talking to you, and figuring out the best way to treat your particular issue. He is conservative in that he will recommend and try non-surgical solutions first if he thinks they can help. However, he will also be honest and let you know if surgery will be your best way to go. And if that's what you need, you will be in the right place! Dr. Wind has more than 25 years specializing in hip, knee, and shoulder reconstructive surgery and joint replacement. And if you need general orthopedic care for fractures and sprains, or muscle and bone conditions, he can help you with that too.

Michael F. Wind, DO is a Board Certified, Fellowship Trained Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialty in hip, knee, and shoulder joint reconstructive surgery. Dr. Michael Wind is Board Certified and Board Recertified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Wind has expertise in primary and revision total hip, total knee, and shoulder replacement, as well as minimally invasive procedures and Hip Resurfacing. He also provides care for general orthopedic conditions, including fractures, sprains, and musculoskeletal issues.

Dr. Wind graduated from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a Traditional Rotating Internship and Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Genesys Regional Medical Center at Michigan State University. He elected to further his expertise with a Fellowship in Adult Reconstructive Surgery of the Shoulder, Hip, and Knee. Under the preceptorship of Drs. Richard Kyle and Ramon Gustilo, Dr. Wind completed his Fellowship at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Dr. Wind holds an Academic Appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Department of Osteopathic Surgical Specialties. Knee pain, stiffness, instability, and lack of full motion can be symptoms of an injury, arthritis, osteoarthritis or knee ligament, cartilage, or meniscus tear. HIP RESURFACING

Traditionally, people with hip pain, stiffness, and difficulty moving the hip joint only had one option for severe symptoms, total hip replacement. Hip Resurfacing is a newer alternative to total hip replacement for some people. Unlike hip replacement surgery, hip resurfacing does not remove the damaged bones or use hip implants. Instead, hip resurfacing resurfaces the bones in the hip joint with smooth metal. Hip resurfacing conserves hip bone.  Because hip resurfacing is a less-invasive procedure, you can anticipate an easier recovery. Ideal candidates for hip resurfacing are younger people who want to return to an active lifestyle.

In addition to providing hip resurfacing, Dr. Wind’s expertise also includes:

HIP CONDITIONS

  • Arthritis
  • Bursitis
  • Dislocation
  • Hip Fracture
  • Osteoarthritis

HIP TREATMENTS

  • Birmingham Hip Resurfacing
  • Hip Arthroscopy
  • Minimally Invasive Hip Replacement
  • Oxinium Hip (Type of Implant)
  • Total Hip Replacement

We Fix Your Injured Shoulder

If your shoulder "grinds" or "catches," causes pain, and prevents you from performing simple day-to-day activities, it's time to find out about the advanced treatment options.

The shoulder joint has a greater range of motion than any other part of the body, which is one of the reasons why it is more vulnerable to injury. Shoulder pain, deep aching, weakness, loss of movement, stiffness, and swelling can cause people with shoulder arthritis or injury to awaken at night and limit their activities during the day. If your shoulder “grinds” or “catches”, causes pain, and prevents you from performing simple day-to-day activities, it’s time for you to find out how the latest advances in orthopedic shoulder surgery can help you reclaim your life. Dr. Michael Wind is a caring board certified, fellowship trained shoulder surgeon in Shelby Township, Michigan who offers technically advanced and minimally invasive shoulder surgeries, including Reverse Shoulder Replacement, Shoulder Arthroscopy, and Total Shoulder Joint Replacement.
